I record with Pro Tools 7 on a PC through the MBox2. I have a few decent condenser mics and the following virtual instruments and notable plug-ins:
- BFD Acoustic drums. Seven drum kits digitally recorded, MIDI driven.
- Garriton Personal Orchestra. Digital strings, horns, etc. MIDI driven.
- Pro Tools Factory plug-ins
- Waves IR-1 Reverb
- SampleTank 2 SE sampler
Guitars
My main 6-string guitar is a Legacy AE made by CA Guitars out of Louisiana . This a carbon composite 6 string acoustic with a Fishman Premium Blender pickup system. The basses I'm playing are a Carvin 5-string fretless, a Tacoma acoustic (pictured), and a Peavey 4 string fretted bass.Other guitars include a Tacoma Papoose (pictured) which is a small travel guitar tuned to an A (like a capo on the 5th fret), a Guild 12-string, and a Peavey T-60 electric with a Line 6 POD.
When doing a solo gig I sometimes use Roland foot pedals plugged into a rack synthesizer to kick bass. I have an SWR 'California Blonde' combo amp that I can run pretty much anything through. Designed as a acoustic instrument amp, it can act as a mini PA.
