EVERYTHING
I believe there's a better way
I can hear it in my mind
Who we are and could ever be
Taken by a dark shrouded mystery
Serpentine, it may get away
Hoping harm will come another day.
For their afterlife they'll take everything
All our hopes and dreams and promises
Find in these times, how to cope, how to say;
Keep your spirits up
Hold it high
Never let it go
Help it to fly
Because I believe there's a better way
I can feel it in my heart
Let me in, don't run away
Trust is what I offer in return
If you will stay
Tell me know what you hope and pray
There's not time now to look the other way

Inspired by the frustration of cross cultural understanding - or the lack of it.
This was written on the 2nd anniversay of 9/11. The title was inspired by a quote from the movie 'The Unforgiven' where Bill Munny, played by Clint Eastwood, says "It's a hell of a thing, killin' a man. You take away all he's got, and all he's ever gonna have." in the context of what terrorists did in exchange for their promise of martyrdom.
