Someone Like You
Of all the girls that I’ve been around to
No one is quite like you
I’ve seen the eyes of the magazine girl
And I could see straight through
Too long I’ve been away
If you’d seen what I’ve been through
All I need is someone like you
I will be there when the times get rough girl
I will be by your side
It might be said it’s the thing you need most
Someone who will confide
And let what they call love
Turn into something new
All it takes is someone like you
Tonight’s the night
Will you come be with me
Fly all the flights
See the sights
Dim the lights
So many times have I been so misled
So many times let down
Became a part of the signs I misread
Felt like I circle ‘round
Too long I’ve been away
If you’d seen what I’ve been through
All I need is someone like you

Old school rock and roll. Mid-60s say. Beatles influenced.
I wrote this in the early 80s, hearing what a lot of new wave bands were doing and particularly liking those songs that were capturing some of the essence of the Beatles.
